Terms & Conditions

Content, Rights, Export & Print Agreement

Version 2026-10-04.r13 · Effective 4 October 2026

These Terms & Conditions apply when you use Your Book Pro to record, upload, transcribe, edit, generate, format, export, download, publish or otherwise process book-related content. An adult accepts these Terms: when creating an account; when authorising a child’s book, if these Terms have not already been accepted; when accepting a materially updated version of these Terms; and where a specific transaction, such as a subscription, a print order or another paid service, requires an additional confirmation at that point. Acceptance is not limited to the moment you export. These Terms are intended to protect both you and Your Book Pro. They confirm that you keep ownership of your book and your content, while also confirming that you are responsible for making sure you have the rights, permissions and clearances needed to use and publish that content. These Terms do not replace our Privacy Notice, Kids Privacy Notice, Cookie Policy, Refund & Cancellation Policy, or any separate Voice Rights & Permissions terms. Those documents may also apply. Where you are asked to confirm acceptance, the wording used is: “I agree to the Terms and confirm that I have read the Privacy Notice.” Reading and being informed by the Privacy Notice is an acknowledgement, not a consent to data processing, and it is kept separate from any optional consents such as cookies, analytics, advertising, marketing or voice cloning, which are never bundled into acceptance of these Terms.

Plain English summary

Your Book Pro is a technical AI-assisted book creation service. We provide tools to help you record, transcribe, organise, edit, review and export book-related content.

We do not promise that the service will be error-free, uninterrupted, publication-ready or commercially successful. AI can make mistakes. You are responsible for checking, editing, backing up and deciding whether to use or publish anything created through the service.

Our automated checks are best-efforts safety nets, not professional clearance. A warning, a pass or a completed checklist does not mean your book is factually correct, safe, lawful or cleared to publish.

If you buy a Pro subscription, it renews monthly or annually according to the billing interval you select at checkout, unless cancelled before the next billing date. Payments are handled by Stripe. You can cancel future renewals, but subscription fees already paid are generally non-refundable except where required by law or expressly stated at checkout.

If you bought Pro at a lifetime promotional price (such as Founding Author pricing), your locked annual price continues for as long as you stay subscribed, on the conditions explained in section 16G.

Printed books are sold by Your Book Pro and manufactured and fulfilled on our behalf by Lulu and its printing and delivery partners. Made-to-order books normally cannot be returned merely because you change your mind, but this never removes your legal rights if goods are faulty, damaged, incorrect or not as described.

Nothing in these Terms removes your legal rights as a consumer.

1. Who we are

“Your Book Pro”, “we”, “us” or “our” means the operator of the Your Book Pro website and application.

Legal operator and seller: Thomas Hartley trading as Your Book Pro. Correspondence to: 5 The Old Green, Sherborne, Dorset, DT9 3JY, United Kingdom. Contact email: editor@yourbook.pro. Company number: Not applicable. VAT status: Not VAT registered.

“You”, “your” or “the Author” means the person or organisation that creates an account, uploads content, uses the service, or exports content from the service.

2. What these Terms cover

These Terms apply to all material you submit to, create in, generate through, edit with, or export from Your Book Pro.

This includes, but is not limited to: voice recordings; transcripts; prompts; notes; outlines; book plans; chapter drafts; manuscripts; titles; subtitles; blurbs; synopses; author biographies; editorial feedback; AI-generated or AI-assisted text; AI-generated or AI-assisted images; cover concepts; photographs; illustrations; charts; tables; references; quotations; footnotes; citations; names, likenesses or descriptions of real people; fictional characters; storylines; memoir material; factual claims; research; data; and any other material processed through the service.

Together, this is called “Content” in these Terms.

2A. Automated checks are safety nets, not professional clearance

Your Book Pro may run automated checks on your Content. These can include factual and fact-checking checks, safety and safeguarding checks, copyright, permissions, rights and licence checks, quotation and source or citation checks, religious-text and historical-text checks, privacy and personal-data checks, defamation checks, and other legal or risk checks.

All of these checks are best-efforts safety nets. They are automated, they are not carried out by a lawyer, an editor of record, a sensitivity reader, a rights clearance professional or any other qualified professional, and they are not a substitute for professional advice.

These checks can miss issues entirely, overstate issues, misidentify issues, flag material that is in fact perfectly fine, or fail to flag material that is in fact a serious problem. They may be incomplete, out of date, or wrong about the law that applies to you.

A warning, a pass, a green tick, a score, a report or a completed checklist inside Your Book Pro is not professional clearance and is not permission to publish. It does not mean your book is accurate, safe, lawful, non-infringing, properly licensed, properly attributed or ready for publication.

You remain responsible for the final checks on your book. That includes checking facts; obtaining and evidencing the rights, permissions and licences you need; complying with the law that applies to you and to where your book will be published or sold; and obtaining qualified professional advice where the subject matter, the risk or the law requires it.

Where our systems detect a serious risk - for example a safeguarding concern, a risk of harm, apparent unlawful content, or a serious rights or safety problem - we may pause, limit, block or escalate processing, review or output, even where you disagree with that assessment. Those protections continue to apply and can be triggered at any stage.

Nothing in this section is intended to exclude or limit our duty to carry out the service with reasonable care and skill, or to exclude or limit any right you have as a consumer that cannot lawfully be excluded or waived.

3. You keep ownership of your Content

As between you and Your Book Pro, you keep ownership of the rights you already hold in your Content.

We do not claim ownership of your manuscript, recordings, transcripts, notes, book ideas, drafts, edited text, exported files or final book.

Your Book Pro does not become your publisher, co-author, literary agent, editor of record, rights-clearance provider, legal adviser or distributor merely because you use the service.

If we provide AI-generated or AI-assisted text, editorial suggestions, formatting, titles, blurbs, descriptions, cover concepts or other outputs specifically for you through the service, we grant you the rights we are able to grant in those outputs, subject to these Terms, applicable law, third-party rights, and any third-party platform terms that apply.

You understand that some AI-generated material may not be capable of copyright protection in all countries, or may only be protected to the extent of your human creative contribution, selection, arrangement, editing or authorship.

4. Our service, software and templates

We retain ownership of Your Book Pro, including our website, app, software, prompts, workflows, templates, designs, branding, trade marks, know-how, databases, processes and other service materials.

You may use the service only for its intended purpose: creating, editing, preparing and exporting your own book-related Content.

You must not copy, reverse engineer, scrape, resell, reproduce, redistribute or misuse the service, except as permitted by law.

5. Licence you give us to operate the service

You grant Your Book Pro a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, copy, transmit, transcribe, process, analyse, format, display and generate outputs from your Content, but only so far as reasonably necessary to: provide the service to you; record, upload, transcribe, edit, assess, score, format, narrate or export your Content; provide AI-powered transcription, editing, review, scoring, fact-checking, planning, publishing and narration features; provide customer support; maintain security and prevent misuse; fix technical issues; comply with legal obligations; enforce these Terms; and maintain routine backups and operational records.

This licence expressly covers, where you use the relevant features: provisional child books created in the Kids area and child books that have been approved by an adult; podcast RSS feeds you supply and the individual episodes you select for import, download, conversion, storage and transcription; content made available through sharing links you create and to collaborators you invite, for the purposes you choose; and the generation, validation, transmission and storage of print-ready interior and cover files, proofs, order details and delivery information needed for print validation, manufacturing and fulfilment through our print partner Lulu and its carriers.

This licence does not transfer ownership of your Content to us. We will not sell your manuscript or recordings. We will not publish your Content without your express permission.

Because Your Book Pro is built on third-party infrastructure and AI services, your Content may be transmitted to and processed by our service providers, including hosting, storage, transcription, AI model, email and security providers. This is explained in our Privacy & Security Notice.

Unless we clearly tell you otherwise and obtain any required consent, Your Book Pro will not deliberately use your unpublished private Content to train a separate Your Book Pro model for other users. However, third-party infrastructure and AI providers may process, log, retain or use request data under their own terms and privacy settings. The current position is explained in the Privacy & Security Notice.

This licence ends when you delete the relevant Content or close your account, except to the extent copies are retained in backups, audit logs, legal records, security records, provider records, accounting records or as otherwise required or permitted by law.

6. Your rights warranty

You promise that you own, or have obtained all rights, licences, permissions, releases and consents needed to upload, process, generate, edit, export, distribute and publish your Content.

This applies to all Content, including: writing and text; recordings; interviews; transcripts; photographs; illustrations; cover images; quotations; extracts; song lyrics; poems; letters; emails; screenshots; graphs; tables; datasets; trade marks; brand names; references to real people; names, images, voices and likenesses; private information; and material created with or assisted by AI.

If you are using material created by someone else, you are responsible for checking whether permission is needed and obtaining that permission before you export, distribute or publish it. Attribution or citation is important, but it does not always replace the need for permission.

6A. Podcast feeds, episodes and imported audio

You may import audio into Your Book Pro by supplying a podcast RSS feed address and selecting individual episodes to bring into a book project.

You promise that you own the episodes you import, or that you have the rights and permissions needed to copy, download, store, transcribe, edit, adapt and publish them in book form. This includes rights in contributors’ voices, interviews, guest contributions, co-hosts, music, jingles, advertising or sponsorship content, and any third-party material included in an episode.

Importing an episode does not transfer rights to you and does not clear rights on your behalf. Public availability of a podcast feed does not mean the content is free to reuse or republish.

You are responsible for honouring any licence, contributor agreement, network agreement, sponsorship term or platform term that applies to the episodes you import, and for removing imported material from Your Book Pro if you lose the right to use it.

We may download, store, convert, split and transcribe the episodes you select in order to provide the feature. Feed availability, episode formats and third-party hosting services are outside our control.

6B. Sharing links and collaborators

Your work is private by default. Where the service allows it, you may create sharing links or invite collaborators such as co-authors, editors or reviewers.

You are responsible for who you share with, what access level you grant, how long a link stays active, and for revoking access when it is no longer needed. Anyone holding a valid sharing link may be able to view the shared material without a further invitation.

You are responsible for having the rights and permissions to disclose the shared material, including any personal data about other people that it contains, and for the actions of the people you invite while they use the shared material.

Collaborators must comply with these Terms in relation to material they access, add or change. We are not responsible for material that a collaborator copies, keeps, distributes or publishes outside the service.

For child books, access is controlled by the adult who approved the book, including the child-access link.

7. AI-generated and AI-assisted Content

Your Book Pro may use artificial intelligence to help produce or improve Content, including transcripts, summaries, edits, rewrites, titles, blurbs, chapter structures, cover concepts, illustrations, scores, reviews, publishing guidance and narration.

AI processing requires relevant Content to be sent to AI infrastructure and model providers. Depending on the feature, this may include audio, transcript text, manuscript text, book metadata, prompts, author brief answers, review outputs or narration instructions.

AI can make mistakes. AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, misleading, offensive, unsuitable, biased, out of date, wrongly sourced, or similar to existing third-party material. You are responsible for reviewing, editing and approving all AI-generated or AI-assisted Content before you use, export, share, distribute or publish it.

You should not assume that AI output is original, accurate, legally safe, properly sourced, copyright-free, defamation-free, publication-ready or commercially suitable.

Before publishing, you should independently check: factual accuracy; copyright and permissions; quotations and sources; names and descriptions of real people; privacy issues; defamation risks; medical, legal, financial or technical claims; sensitive personal data; children’s information; and any material likely to affect another person’s rights or reputation.

Your Book Pro does not provide legal review, rights clearance, plagiarism checking, defamation review, medical review, financial review, safeguarding review or publisher approval unless we expressly agree this in a separate written contract.

8. Citations, quotations and third-party material

You are responsible for providing proper, accurate and complete citations, attributions and credits where required. You are also responsible for obtaining any licence or permission needed to quote, reproduce, adapt, summarise or refer to third-party works.

This is especially important for: song lyrics; poetry; long extracts from books or articles; unpublished letters or emails; photographs; illustrations; artwork; maps; charts; tables; academic theories; proprietary frameworks; trade marks; and content taken from websites, social media or archives.

A citation, acknowledgement or copyright notice does not necessarily give you permission to use third-party material. You should keep evidence of permissions and licences.

9. Real people, privacy and reputation

If your Content names, identifies, depicts, describes or is based on a real person, whether living or dead, you are responsible for ensuring that your use is lawful.

This includes, where applicable, rights relating to: privacy; confidentiality; publicity or personality rights; data protection; harassment; defamation; misuse of private information; image rights; voice rights; and moral rights.

You should take particular care with Content about children, health, sexuality, religion, criminal allegations, financial affairs, employment disputes, family disputes, trauma, abuse, or other sensitive matters.

You must not use the service to create or publish Content that unlawfully invades privacy, harms reputation, reveals confidential information, or makes unsupported allegations about identifiable people.

9A. Young Authors and Adult Responsibility

Children aged 7 to 11 may use the child-author workflow in the Kids area of Your Book Pro.

A child is not asked to enter into the service contract. These Terms are accepted by an adult, and the adult is the party responsible to us for the child’s book and its use of the service.

When a child starts a book, a provisional book may be available for up to seven days while adult approval is requested. A provisional book is temporary and may expire if it is not approved in that period.

An adult must authorise the book before it becomes a permanent book attached to an adult account.

By approving, the adult takes responsibility for the book, the child-access link, supervision of the child’s use of the service, the content created, the permissions needed for that content, and the use of the service in connection with that book.

The adult can manage, restrict or delete the book at any time through their account.

An adult must not approve a child’s book unless they are appropriately responsible for supporting that child’s use of the service.

We call this step “adult approval” or “adult authorisation”. It is not verified parental consent, and we do not verify parental responsibility or legal guardianship as part of this workflow.

One affirmative button, labelled “I agree and approve this book”, records both the adult’s acceptance of these Terms and the adult’s authorisation of the child’s book. No additional checkbox is required on that approval page. The same statement, Terms version and Privacy Notice version are recorded whether the adult approves from the approval email, from their Library, or on the same device the child used.

Optional advertising, Google Analytics, Google Ads and Microsoft Clarity remain disabled throughout the Kids area, and none of them are covered by or enabled through adult approval.

The child receives a separate age-appropriate privacy explanation in the Kids Privacy Notice.

10. Voice recordings, interviews, voice cloning and narration

If you record, upload, transcribe, clone, synthesise or generate a voice using the service, you confirm that you have all permissions required to do so.

You must not upload or use another person’s voice, interview, performance, conversation or likeness unless you have the rights and consents needed.

Any voice cloning, synthetic narration or AI voice feature is subject to our separate Voice Rights & Permissions terms and any explicit consent process shown in the service.

You must not use voice features to impersonate, deceive, defame, harass, exploit or mislead anyone.

11. Prohibited Content and misuse

You must not use Your Book Pro to create, upload, generate, export, distribute or publish Content that: infringes intellectual property rights; breaches privacy or confidentiality; is defamatory or maliciously false; unlawfully harasses, threatens or abuses another person; contains unlawful hate speech; exploits or endangers children; contains unlawful sexual material; contains instructions for serious wrongdoing; violates applicable law; impersonates another person without permission; contains malware or harmful code; or breaches these Terms.

You must not use automation or artificial intelligence to create or submit mass-produced, repetitive, misleading, materially empty, deceptive or low-quality books. AI-assisted books must receive meaningful human review, editing and approval before printing, distribution or publication.

We may suspend access, refuse export, remove Content, or close an account where we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached or where we need to protect users, third parties, the service or ourselves.

12. Technical service only - not professional publishing advice

Your Book Pro provides technical tools, automated workflows and AI-assisted suggestions to help you create, organise, transcribe, edit, review, score, format and export book-related Content.

Unless we expressly agree otherwise in a separate written contract, Your Book Pro is not: your publisher; your literary agent; your distributor; your editor of record; your proofreader of record; your ghostwriter; your lawyer; your accountant; your tax adviser; your rights-clearance service; your permissions service; your fact-checker; your defamation reviewer; your privacy reviewer; your plagiarism checker; your publicist; your marketing agency; your sales agent; your archive or backup provider; or your guarantor of publication, sales, royalties, rankings, reviews, awards or commercial success.

Any editing, scoring, review, feedback, plan, publishing suggestion, blurb, title, cover concept, market advice, agent suggestion, publisher suggestion, self-publishing suggestion or marketing suggestion is provided as automated or AI-assisted guidance only.

You are responsible for deciding whether to rely on it, edit it, ignore it, publish it, send it to others, or seek professional advice.

We do not guarantee that: any transcript will be complete or accurate; any edit will improve your work; any AI review will be correct, fair, useful or suitable; any score will match the view of a publisher, agent, reviewer, prize judge or reader; any factual claim will be correct; any legal, copyright, privacy or defamation risk will be identified; or any book will be accepted, published, sold, reviewed, ranked, shortlisted, recommended or successful.

13. Confidentiality and security

We understand that manuscripts, recordings, transcripts and drafts may be private, unpublished and personally or commercially sensitive.

We will treat your private Content as confidential and will only access, use or disclose it where reasonably necessary to: provide the service; operate hosting, transcription, AI, storage, security and support systems; process your requests; troubleshoot technical issues; respond to your support or privacy requests; comply with law; protect rights, safety and security; investigate misuse; or as otherwise explained in our Privacy & Security Notice.

Your Book Pro is not a zero-knowledge or end-to-end encrypted service. AI features require relevant Content to be processed by third-party infrastructure and AI providers. Do not use Your Book Pro as a secure diary vault, legal evidence vault, medical record system, therapy record or the only copy of highly sensitive or irreplaceable material.

No online service can guarantee absolute security. You should keep your own backup copies of important Content.

14. Data protection, privacy and AI providers

Your use of the service is also governed by our Privacy & Security Notice. That notice explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, which service providers may process it, how long we keep it, what AI processing involves, and what rights you may have.

Manuscripts, recordings and transcripts may contain personal data about you or other people. You are responsible for ensuring that you have a lawful basis, permission or other right to upload and process personal data about other people where required.

You must take particular care before uploading or publishing Content involving children, health, sexuality, religion, political opinions, criminal allegations, financial affairs, employment disputes, family disputes, trauma, abuse, confidential information or other sensitive matters.

By using AI features, you understand that relevant Content may be processed by third-party AI infrastructure and model providers, including Lovable AI Gateway and model providers such as Google Gemini, OpenAI and OpenRouter where configured.

Your Book Pro has enabled the available data-use opt-out for its workspace. This means Your Book Pro customer content should not be used by our application infrastructure provider for AI model training.

This does not remove the need for infrastructure providers and AI model providers to process relevant Content when you use AI features. It also does not make the service zero-knowledge, end-to-end encrypted, risk-free, or suitable as a secure archive for highly sensitive material.

Your Book Pro is intended for book creation, transcription, editing and review. Books, memoirs and life stories may include sensitive personal material, but the service is not designed to be a secure diary vault, medical record system, legal evidence system, therapy record or regulated archive. Only upload or record material you are comfortable having processed by Your Book Pro and its infrastructure and AI providers for the features you choose to use.

You must not upload unnecessary sensitive personal data about other people unless you have a lawful basis to do so and understand the risks.

14A. AI processing acknowledgement

Before you use recording, upload, transcription, AI editing, AI review, AI scoring, AI fact-checking, AI narration or export features, we may ask you to confirm that you understand and accept the following:

Your Book Pro is an AI-powered service. AI features require relevant audio, transcript, manuscript text or book information to be processed. Content may be sent to third-party infrastructure and AI model providers. The service is not zero-knowledge or end-to-end encrypted. Your work is private by default, but it may be available to people you share it with, collaborators you invite, child-book users authorised by the adult owner, or providers required to deliver features such as AI processing and printing. You are responsible for ensuring you have the rights and permissions needed for anything you upload. You should not upload material you are not comfortable having processed by third-party AI services.

We may record the date, time, account, IP address, Terms version and Privacy version when you accept these acknowledgements.

15. Exporting and downloading Content

You must have accepted the current Terms before exporting, downloading, generating a document, or otherwise extracting Content from the service. Acceptance normally happens when you create your account or when you authorise a child’s book; if a materially updated version has been issued since then, you will be asked to accept the current version.

Before you can export, download or extract Content, you must accept the current Terms and confirm that you understand the AI processing and rights responsibilities described in these Terms and the Privacy & Security Notice.

By exporting or downloading Content, you confirm that you have reviewed it and that you are responsible for its use, distribution and publication.

Exporting or downloading Content does not mean that Your Book Pro has approved, reviewed, cleared or endorsed it.

15A. Printed books: sale, proof approval, production and delivery

Printed books ordered through Your Book Pro are sold by Your Book Pro. Your contract for the printed books is with Your Book Pro. Lulu and its printing, fulfilment and delivery partners manufacture and deliver the books on our behalf. Your Book Pro is not the physical printer, publisher, distributor or carrier.

Before an order can be placed, you must review and approve the exact print proof and specification. We record the approval date, account, signed name, checklist, file fingerprints, page count, book specification and applicable Terms version.

By approving the proof, you confirm that you have checked the interior and cover, including text, spelling, layout, page breaks, images, image quality, page count, spine, bleed, trim and cover placement. You also confirm that you have the rights, licences, releases and permissions needed for all text, images, voices, names, likenesses and identifiable people included in the book, including appropriate adult permission for identifiable children.

Automated formatting, resizing, cover creation, image placement, contents pages and printer validation are technical aids. They are not proofreading, professional design, rights clearance or legal approval.

Errors that were visible in the exact proof you approved, including spelling, factual, formatting, image-quality or design errors, are normally your responsibility and are not manufacturing defects. Proof approval does not remove your statutory rights where books are faulty, damaged, incorrectly supplied, materially misprinted or not as described.

Lulu or another provider involved in fulfilment may reject, suspend or cancel an order where the files, content or order do not meet technical, legal, intellectual-property, safety or content-policy requirements. Where a paid order cannot be fulfilled, Your Book Pro will provide the refund or other remedy required by applicable law.

Printing may involve reasonable variations in colour reproduction, trimming, positioning, binding, paper shade and appearance between print runs. Where the selected paper is unavailable, the printer may use a reasonably equivalent stock. Normal production tolerances are not necessarily defects, but materially faulty or incorrect goods remain covered by your legal rights.

Once manufacture begins, an order normally cannot be changed or cancelled because each book is made specifically for that order. Personalised and made-to-order books do not normally qualify for a change-of-mind return. This does not affect your statutory rights.

If books arrive damaged, faulty, incorrectly produced, incorrectly supplied or materially different from the approved proof, contact Your Book Pro using the support details in your confirmation email. We will investigate and provide the replacement, refund, price reduction or other remedy required by applicable law. Please report problems promptly, ideally within 30 days, and provide photographs where relevant. This request helps us investigate and does not limit statutory rights.

You are responsible for providing complete and accurate recipient, telephone and delivery information. Incorrect or incomplete information may cause delay, non-delivery or additional costs. Import duties, customs charges or local taxes may apply where stated at checkout or required by law.

Ordering printed copies does not automatically publish the book, provide an ISBN, distribute it to retailers or list it for public sale.

16. Payments, Pro subscriptions, cancellation and refunds

Your Book Pro may offer free features and paid features. Paid features are provided through a Pro subscription billed monthly or annually as shown at checkout, unless otherwise stated at checkout.

Super Pro is not currently available for general purchase. Existing, trial, promotional, test or manually granted Super Pro entitlements may remain active and provide the features shown in the relevant account. References to planned Super Pro features do not create a right to receive features that have not yet been launched, purchased or granted.

Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not store your full card details. Stripe may process your payment details, billing information, invoices, authentication steps, failed payment attempts, refunds and subscription status.

A Pro subscription renews monthly or annually according to the billing interval selected at checkout, unless cancelled before the next billing date. By subscribing, you authorise recurring charges at that interval using the payment method you provide.

The price, billing interval, included features, usage limits, discounts and taxes will be shown at checkout or on the pricing page before you subscribe.

Discounts, promotional prices, referral offers or introductory offers may be temporary, may be limited to one per user or account, may not be exchangeable for cash, and may be withdrawn or changed for future purchases. The prices, features and taxes that apply to your subscription are those shown at checkout before you subscribe. Where an offer is described as a lifetime, locked or “for life” promotional price, section 16G sets out how that price is kept and how it can end.

The Founding Author offer is a recurring annual Pro subscription at a special discounted annual price (not a coupon or first-year-only discount). While your subscription remains active, it renews each year at that same discounted annual price. If you cancel, this founding price may no longer be available if you subscribe again. The Founding Author offer applies to annual subscriptions only and is never applied to monthly subscriptions. The lifetime protections that apply to this offer are set out in section 16G.

Except for the Founding Author offer described above, once any discount, trial or promotional period ends, your subscription will renew at the standard price for your chosen billing interval shown at checkout unless you cancel before renewal.

You can manage or cancel your subscription through the billing link, account page or Stripe customer portal where available. Cancellation stops future renewal; it does not automatically refund amounts already paid.

Subscription fees already paid are generally non-refundable, except: where required by law; where we expressly state otherwise at checkout; where we choose, at our discretion, to offer a goodwill refund; or where a specific refund or cancellation right applies under a separate written policy.

If payment fails, we may suspend, restrict or end access to Pro features until payment is completed. Stripe may retry failed payments and may send payment-related emails or invoices.

We may change Pro features, usage limits, prices or discounts in future. Where legally required or where changes are material, we will give notice before the change affects your existing subscription.

Nothing in this section limits any non-waivable consumer rights you may have under applicable law.

16A. Digital content and immediate access

Some Your Book Pro features provide instant access to digital content, AI processing, transcription, editing, review, export or other personalised digital services.

By starting a Pro subscription, requesting transcription, generating AI feedback, exporting a document, or using other instant digital features, you ask us to begin providing the service immediately.

Where required by law, you may be asked to confirm that you want immediate access to digital content or personalised services and that you understand how this may affect cancellation or refund rights.

Once a recording has been transcribed, AI feedback has been generated, a manuscript has been processed, or a personalised digital output has been created for you, you may lose any right to cancel that specific digital performance, except where the law gives you a non-waivable remedy.

16B. Subscriptions, additional audio, credits and one-off services

Your Book Pro may offer recurring subscriptions and separate one-off purchases. One-off purchases may include additional audio or upload allowances, credits, printed books, gift purchases and other individual services.

The price, what is included, any usage limit, expiry and applicable taxes are shown at checkout before you buy. Where a specific purchase requires an additional confirmation, that confirmation is recorded together with the Terms version that applied at the time.

Legacy audio or upload allowances and entitlements are separate from Plus wallet credits. Such a legacy allowance or entitlement may expire only where an expiry was clearly stated when it was granted or bought. Every Plus wallet credit, whether purchased, welcome, earned, referred or gifted, is held in one fungible balance and never expires. A chargeable action uses credits only after successful performance or delivery under the applicable settlement rule; failed, cancelled or released reservations are not charged. Nothing in this section limits your non-waivable consumer rights.

Printed books and other made-to-order items are produced specifically for the approved order. Change-of-mind cancellation and return rights may therefore be limited once manufacture begins. This does not limit any legal remedy for faulty, damaged, incorrect or misdescribed goods.

Gift purchases give the recipient the access described at checkout for the stated period. Unredeemed gifts may be refundable in line with the refund position stated at checkout and applicable law.

Subscription renewals, cancellation and refunds are dealt with in section 16. Nothing in this section limits your non-waivable consumer rights.

16C. Collaboration seats (sharing a book with other authors)

Until the Plus plan launches, collaboration is a paid add-on to an active Pro subscription. It lets you invite other people to work with you inside one of your books - the same book, not a copy. You may have up to five collaborators on a book.

Pricing is per book and per collaborator. The first collaborator on a book is charged at the first-collaborator rate and collaborators two to five are each charged at the lower additional-collaborator rate. The exact monthly or annual amounts in your currency are shown before you confirm, and are added to your existing Pro subscription so they renew on the same date and at the same interval as that subscription.

What the collaborator gets: access to the single book you shared with them, using your Pro features inside that book only. They must have their own Your Book Pro account and they must redeem the invitation link you send them. An invitation link can be redeemed once, and a seat is billed from the point you deliberately invite someone. Declined, expired, revoked and removed invitations release the seat.

Once the Plus plan launches, invitations and shared collaboration access are free. Merely viewing, editing or collaborating in a shared book does not consume credits. Each collaborator then uses their own account entitlement, or their own Plus wallet credits, for any chargeable tools they choose to run.

Refresh and renewal: collaboration seats are a continuing subscription item, not an allowance. They continue for as long as they are on your subscription and renew with it.

Cancellation: you may remove a collaborator or cancel collaboration at any time. Removing a seat stops that seat being charged from your next billing period onwards; the amount already paid for the current period is not refunded and the collaborator's access may continue until the end of that period unless you remove their access sooner. This is the only add-on where the charge is recalculated going forward in this way.

16D. Audio uploads and audio credits

Uploading recorded audio for transcription uses your audio allowance. Pro includes 10 uploaded files, up to 600 minutes (10 hours) in total, per year.

Refresh: the included Pro allowance is an annual allocation that refreshes on the anniversary of the date your subscription began, whether you pay monthly or annually. Unused included allowance does not roll over into the next year - it resets to the standard allocation on each anniversary.

Any existing legacy audio add-on allowance is a separate one-off purchase for uploads beyond the included allowance, and is distinct from the future Plus wallet. Its price, and any expiry clearly stated when it was granted or bought, are shown before you confirm. It is added to your account once payment clears, is not part of the annual refresh, and is used only after your included allowance for the year has been used.

When the Plus plan launches, audio is charged in Plus wallet credits quoted from the current server-side price table before you confirm, based on the duration of the audio and the applicable pricing rule. A chargeable action uses credits only after successful performance or delivery under the applicable settlement rule; failed or cancelled processing is not charged. Plus wallet credits never expire and are not a voucher or cash.

The Podcaster entitlement remains separate from the Plus wallet. It is limited to 20 uploaded files and 5,000 credit-equivalent audio usage in aggregate, with a maximum of 60 minutes per file, and it ends when the first of these caps is reached.

Cancellation: this paragraph applies only to legacy audio add-on purchases, not to Plus wallet credits. A legacy audio add-on is an immediate digital service and is generally non-refundable once bought, except where the law requires otherwise or where a refund is expressly offered at checkout. Cancelling your subscription stops future renewals; it does not refund a legacy add-on already bought or allowance already used. Purchases of Plus wallet credits are not governed by this paragraph: they are governed by section 16F, including its refund policy, its UK and EU consumer provisions and your statutory rights.

16E. Additional book capacity (extra books)

Your plan sets how many books you may have. Pro includes three books and Super Pro is unlimited. Existing books are never deleted because a plan or allowance changes; if your limit falls, you keep every existing book and may simply be unable to create new books beyond the limit of your current plan.

Until the Plus plan launches, additional book capacity is a Pro add-on that raises the Pro limit only. Extra book slots are a one-off purchase, priced per slot, and you may buy as many slots as you need up to the maximum shown at checkout. The exact price in your currency is shown before you confirm.

What a Pro add-on slot gives you: a purchased Pro add-on slot is a permanent increase to your book limit while your Pro subscription remains active. It is not an annual allowance and there is nothing to refresh or renew. Deleting a book frees the slot for a new book. If your Pro subscription ends, purchased Pro add-on slots stay on your account and the higher limit applies again if you return to Pro.

Once the Plus plan launches, Plus includes one book. A Plus user may buy an additional book slot with Plus wallet credits at the canonical price in the current server-side price table - 1,500 credits at the current price table version - quoted exactly before you confirm. A book slot bought with credits belongs to your account and does not depend on holding or keeping an active Pro subscription. Pro retains its three-book allowance, and Pro add-on slots continue to work as described above.

Cancellation: one-off Pro add-on slot purchases are non-refundable once the slot has been added to your account, except where the law requires otherwise or a refund is expressly offered at checkout. A book slot bought with Plus wallet credits follows section 16F and the applicable settlement rule: credits are used only when the slot is successfully added, and failed or cancelled purchases are not charged.

16F. Credits, Book Packs and the Plus plan

Credit purchases are not yet available. The clauses below describe how credits will work when they launch, and the same wording is shown again at any credit purchase.

Credits: Credits are contractual prepaid platform usage units that may be used only for eligible Your Book Pro digital services and features. They are not vouchers, gift cards, cash, cash equivalents, deposits, electronic money or stored monetary value, have no cash value and cannot be exchanged for cash, except where applicable law requires a refund.

Balance and expiry: Purchased, welcome, earned and gifted credits have the same spending power and appear in one balance. Credits do not expire. We retain their grant source and transaction history for refunds, disputes, fraud prevention and audit; source is not a separate customer-facing credit class.

Book Pack: Book Pack is the name of a 10,000-credit bundle based on an illustrative model of average use for an average-length manuscript using a representative mix of tools. It is not a promise that 10,000 credits will complete, edit, prepare, publish or print a book.

Other packs: Large Book Pack and Podcaster Pack are bundle names, not outcome guarantees. Podcaster Pack contains 15,000 wallet credits plus a separate audio entitlement. That entitlement is limited to 20 uploaded files, 5,000 credit-equivalent audio usage in aggregate and 60 minutes per file. It ends when any cap is reached and is not transferable or exchangeable for wallet credits.

Variable use: Actual credit use depends on manuscript length, selected tools and services, frequency, audio duration, requested outputs and the author's choices. Some customers need more credits; others finish with unused credits. No pack guarantees completion, publication, publisher acceptance, sales or any other outcome.

Prices and confirmation: The applicable credit price is shown before a chargeable action is confirmed. A confirmed action uses the quoted price and price-table version. Future price changes do not reduce the numerical balance already held.

Additive charges: When a single workflow or conversation includes more than one chargeable action, each chargeable action is charged separately and the total is the sum of the quoted charges, unless the service expressly states at the point of confirmation that one charge replaces another.

Voluntary refund policy: For customers in the United States and other markets where a stronger mandatory rule does not apply, Your Book Pro offers a full refund within 14 days for a purchased credit grant that remains wholly unused. After credits from that grant have been used, no voluntary change-of-mind refund is offered.

UK and EU consumers: Cancellation, withdrawal, immediate supply, proportionate payment and loss-of-right rules depend on applicable law and whether the contract is treated as digital content, a digital service or another service. We request any legally required express consent and acknowledgement and provide durable confirmation. Use of one credit does not by itself replace those statutory steps.

Faults and non-supply: The refund policy does not limit statutory rights. If a paid service is faulty, unavailable, not supplied or not as described, you may be entitled to repeat performance, repair, replacement, price reduction, termination or refund under applicable law.

Bonuses and gifts: Welcome, earned and referral credits have no cash value and are not refundable. A refund for a gifted purchase is paid only to the original payer and may remove the corresponding unused grant from the recipient. Fraudulent or reversed qualifying activity may reverse the related bonus grant.

Incentivised sharing: A customer receiving credits for a public badge or social post must clearly disclose the incentive in the post. The post must be genuine and public, must not make false claims, and need not be positive. Your Book Pro may withhold or reverse the grant if the verification conditions were not met.

Service changes: If Your Book Pro permanently discontinues the credit system, it will give reasonable notice and provide an opportunity to use remaining credits or another remedy required by applicable law.

16G. Lifetime promotional pricing

Some of our promotional offers, including the Founding Author offer and offers described as “50% off Pro for life”, “half price for life” or a “Lifetime Price”, all work in the same way. When you buy an annual Pro subscription at such a promotional price, that price is locked for you. This section explains what that means and how the locked price can be kept or lost.

The Lifetime Price means the annual promotional price you originally paid for Pro. It is not a permanent percentage discount recalculated against whatever standard prices we charge in future. For example, if you bought Pro at a promotional annual price and the standard annual price later rises, your price does not rise with it.

The Lifetime Price applies only while all of the following are true: you pay annually; your Pro subscription remains active and in good standing, meaning payments are made on time and the account has not been suspended or ended for cause; and we continue to offer Pro, or a substantially equivalent successor subscription, as described below.

If we raise the standard Pro price, your Lifetime Price does not rise.

If we later offer Pro at a price lower than your Lifetime Price, you may choose that cheaper offer instead. Switching is entirely your choice and you are never required to switch. However, switching to any other offer permanently replaces and ends your Lifetime Price, even if that cheaper offer later ends or its price rises.

Taking any other promotional or sale price for Pro also permanently ends your Lifetime Price. Once it has ended in this way, it cannot be restored later.

Exception: if you switch by genuine mistake, contact us within 48 hours of the switch and we will restore your previous Lifetime Price. If more than 48 hours have passed since the switch, the previous Lifetime Price cannot be restored.

If a renewal payment fails, you have a 14-day grace period to correct the payment problem, for example by updating your card or bank details. If the payment is successfully taken within that period, your Lifetime Price continues. If it is not, your Lifetime Price ends. The grace period does not change any other consequences of a failed payment described in section 16.

If you cancel your subscription, or it expires, your Lifetime Price ends at the end of the paid term you have already paid for. If a payment for your qualifying subscription is refunded or reversed by chargeback, your Lifetime Price ends.

The Lifetime Price is personal to your account. It is non-transferable, cannot be shared, sold or given to anyone else, and remains subject to our Fair Usage Policy, including the rule against account sharing.

The Lifetime Price applies only to the core annual Pro subscription. It does not apply to printed books, credits, extra books, audio allowances or collaboration seats, and it does not apply to any other add-on, service or separately priced product, whether current or future.

Your Lifetime Price is in the currency you originally paid in. It is the full price of the subscription, not a part-payment: for example, a UK annual price is stated inclusive of VAT and no VAT is added on top of it.

If Your Book Pro is sold to a new owner, your Lifetime Price continues for as long as substantially the same service, or a successor subscription to it, continues to be offered to you.

If we rename Pro, or replace it with a substantially equivalent successor subscription, that does not by itself end your Lifetime Price. The locked price continues on the successor subscription.

The Lifetime Price locks your price, not the exact set of features that existed when you subscribed. Features, integrations and usage allowances may reasonably evolve over time, as described in section 16.

“For life” means for as long as you maintain the qualifying subscription and we continue to offer Pro, or a substantially equivalent successor subscription. It does not create a right to a service that no longer exists. If Your Book Pro permanently closes, or Pro is permanently discontinued without a substantially equivalent successor, the subscription and the lifetime entitlement end with it, and there is no right to future access to a service that has stopped.

Nothing in this section limits any non-waivable consumer rights you may have under applicable law.

17. Consumer rights

If you use the service as a consumer, you may have legal rights that cannot be excluded or limited. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits your legal rights where it would be unlawful to do so.

In particular, nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for: death or personal injury caused by our negligence; fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; breach of rights that cannot lawfully be excluded; or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

18. Disclaimer - service provided as a technical platform

The service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, subject to your non-waivable legal rights.

We aim to provide a useful and reliable service, but we do not promise that Your Book Pro will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, loss-free, bug-free, compatible with every device or browser, or available at all times.

We do not promise that: recordings will always upload successfully; recordings will never be lost, corrupted or interrupted; transcription will be accurate or complete; speaker names, punctuation, paragraphing or formatting will be correct; AI editing will improve your work; AI feedback will be correct, fair, consistent, complete or useful; AI scores will reflect human editorial or market judgement; AI outputs will be original, lawful, non-infringing, publication-ready or commercially suitable; exported files will meet the requirements of any publisher, agent, printer, platform, retailer or distributor; publishing guidance will lead to publication, sales, reviews, royalties or commercial success; or that third-party services such as hosting, storage, AI providers, email providers, voice providers or payment providers will always operate without interruption.

You are responsible for: keeping your own backup copies of important recordings, transcripts, manuscripts and exported files; checking transcripts and AI outputs; reviewing all edits and feedback; deciding whether to use or ignore suggestions; checking rights, permissions, citations and legal risks; and obtaining professional advice where needed before publishing or relying on Content.

Your Book Pro does not provide legal advice, publishing guarantees, rights-clearance advice, tax advice, financial advice, medical advice, safeguarding advice, professional editorial certification or guaranteed fact-checking through the standard service.

19. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so. In particular, nothing excludes or limits liability for: death or personal injury caused by negligence; fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation; breach of rights that cannot lawfully be excluded; or any other liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

Subject to the paragraph above, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, Your Book Pro will not be liable for: indirect, consequential or unforeseeable loss; loss of profit; loss of sales; loss of business; loss of opportunity; loss of reputation; loss of goodwill; loss of anticipated savings; loss of publishing opportunity; loss of book deal, agent interest, review, ranking, royalty or prize opportunity; emotional distress or disappointment caused by editorial feedback, AI feedback, scoring or review, except where liability cannot legally be excluded; losses caused by your decision to publish, distribute, rely on, ignore, edit or act on Content or AI output; losses caused by inaccurate, incomplete, unsuitable or unsuccessful AI output; losses caused by third-party providers, platforms or services outside our reasonable control; or loss, corruption or deletion of data where you have failed to keep your own backup copy, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.

For consumer users, our liability is limited only so far as is fair and lawful under applicable consumer law.

For business users, our total liability for all claims arising out of or relating to the service, Content, AI output, subscription, technical failure or these Terms will not exceed the greater of: the total amount you paid to Your Book Pro in the 12 months before the claim arose; or £100.

For consumer users, where a financial cap is legally permitted, our total liability will not exceed the greater of: the total amount you paid to Your Book Pro in the 12 months before the claim arose; or £100.

This cap does not apply to liability that cannot lawfully be capped or excluded.

19A. Data loss, backups and technical failures

Your Book Pro is a working technical service, not a guaranteed archive or backup system.

Although we use reasonable technical measures to store user Content privately and securely, technical failures can happen. These may include: failed uploads; failed recordings; interrupted browser sessions; failed transcriptions; corrupted audio; partial transcripts; export errors; database errors; storage errors; third-party provider outages; accidental deletion by the user; account access problems; and device, browser or network failures.

You are responsible for keeping your own backup copies of important Content, including recordings, transcripts, manuscripts, notes, exported files and final drafts.

You should regularly export or download important work and keep copies outside Your Book Pro.

We are not responsible for loss that could reasonably have been avoided by you keeping your own backup copy, except where liability cannot legally be excluded.

If a technical failure occurs, our usual remedy will be to try to restore access, repeat the failed technical process, provide a reasonable workaround, or, where appropriate, consider a credit or refund in accordance with these Terms and applicable law.

19B. AI feedback, editing quality and user satisfaction

Your Book Pro uses automated and AI-assisted systems to provide edits, reviews, scores, suggestions, summaries, plans and publishing guidance.

These outputs are inherently subjective and may not match your expectations, taste, writing style, goals or view of your own work.

You understand and agree that: editorial feedback is opinion-based; AI feedback may be wrong or unhelpful; a low score or critical review is not a statement of fact about you; different editors, agents, publishers, readers or AI systems may disagree; you are responsible for deciding what feedback to accept, reject or adapt; and dissatisfaction with AI feedback, edits, scoring, tone, style or publishing suggestions does not automatically entitle you to a refund.

Where an output is technically defective, we may choose to re-run the process, provide a workaround, offer a credit, or consider a refund where required by law.

20. Your responsibility for claims

You are responsible for losses, claims, complaints, costs and expenses that arise because: you breach these Terms; you misuse the service; you upload Content without the necessary rights, permissions or lawful basis; you publish, share or distribute Content that infringes rights, breaches privacy, is defamatory, is inaccurate, or is unlawful; you rely on AI output without checking it; you fail to keep backup copies of important Content; you use the service for a purpose for which it is not designed; or you upload sensitive material about other people without a lawful basis or permission.

If you are acting as a business, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Your Book Pro, its owners, directors, employees, contractors and agents from and against claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from: your Content; your breach of these Terms; your infringement or alleged infringement of third-party rights; your publication or distribution of Content; your misuse of the service; your violation of applicable law; or your reliance on AI output without proper review.

If you are acting as a consumer, this clause applies only to losses that are reasonably foreseeable, caused by your breach, and recoverable under applicable consumer law.

21. Account suspension and termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if we reasonably believe that: you have breached these Terms; your Content may be unlawful or infringing; your use of the service creates legal, security or operational risk; payment is overdue; we are required to do so by law; or continued access would harm the service, other users, third parties or Your Book Pro.

Where reasonable, we will give you notice and an opportunity to resolve the issue. You may close your account in accordance with the account settings or by contacting us.

22. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the version date and ask you to review and accept the revised Terms before you continue using affected features, including export and download. Historic Terms versions and your previous acceptance records are preserved.

The version accepted at the time of export will apply to that export, unless a later version is required by law or accepted by you.

23. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.

If you are a consumer resident in another part of the United Kingdom or another country, you may also have mandatory rights under the laws of your place of residence.

The courts of England and Wales will have jurisdiction, except where applicable consumer law gives you the right to bring or defend claims in another court.

24. Legal advice

These Terms are provided for general platform use and do not constitute legal advice to you.

You should consult a qualified legal professional before publishing Content that may involve copyright, privacy, defamation, confidentiality, publicity rights, sensitive personal data, third-party material, allegations about real people, or other legal risk.
